9:00 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.	Class Visits Parents and guests can sit in on their student's tutorials and laboratories throughout the day. If you plan to audit your student's classes, please contact him/her ahead of time to get his/her Friday class schedule and room numbers.
5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.	Informal dinner with students in Dining Hall Randall Dining Hall Pay at door.
8:15 p.m.	Friday Night Concert FSK Auditorium "Piano Sonatas of Beethoven," Andreas Haefliger

10:30 a.m.	Parent/student Seminars McDowell Hall The reading is "Lycurgus" from Plutarch's Lives; the format is identical to the Monday and Thursday night seminars.
Noon	Buffet Lunch Dining Hall or FSK Lobby Please note the location on your tickets.
1:45 p.m.	A choice of two activities: Tutorials on Definitions, Propositions, and Common Notions from Euclid's Elements. Wrestle with "A point is that which has no part" and other cryptic foundations of geometry, as freshmen do in their first week at the college. Classes will be led by St. John's students. McDowell Hall Gallery Tour "Joan Miró Illustrated Books" Perhaps more so than any other modern artist, Catalan-born painter Joan Miró (1893-1983) embraced the power and beauty of the illustrated book. This exhibit includes a selection from twelve publications of individual book pages accompanied by translations of passages from the corresponding texts. Some of his abstract illustrations are for poems from authors such as William Butler Yeats, Tristan Tzara, and others, evoking the spirit and rhythm of the poetry while offering his own interpretation of the text. The tour will be led by Art Educator Lucinda Edinberg. Mitchell Art Gallery
3:00 p.m.	A choice of two activities: Question and Answer Session Conversation Room President Christopher B. Nelson and Dean Michael Dink will take questions about the Program, the college, and the community. Three Centuries Walking Tour of Annapolis Assemble outside of the FSK lobby The immediate environment of the campus, including the Maryland State Capitol and the U.S. Naval Academy, holds an education in itself. Guides in colonial dress will take small groups on one-hour walks. All persons 16 years and older must bring a picture identification to enter the Naval Academy and the State House.
10:00 p.m.	Waltz Party Great Hall We still call them "waltz parties," but the heyday of the waltz has passed. Most of the dance music played will be from the swing era.

Sunday, Nov. 5 2:00 p.m.	The Smith-McDowell Cup on the upper playing field This annual women's soccer showdown pits a team chosen by Athletic Director Leo Pickens, A78, against one chosen by one of the senior team captains.
